Weather-related losses ravage Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: PDMA report

PESHAWAR: The aftermath of recent rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has brought forth devastating reports of casualties and damages. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the rains have wreaked havoc, claiming lives and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
Met Office warns of potential crop damage due to heavy rainfall
It was revealed that a total of 10 people have lost their lives, while 12 others sustained injuries in accidents attributed to the inclement weather. Among the deceased, eight children and two women were reported to have succumbed to the adverse conditions.
Furthermore, three houses were completely obliterated, with an additional 27 structures suffering partial damage due to the onslaught of heavy rains and lightning strikes. This has led to numerous families being displaced.
PM Shehbaz orders formation of committee to deal with climate change issues
In addition to the structural damage, reports emerged of roofs collapsing in various districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PDMA also disclosed that 13 cattle perished as a result of the weather, further compounding the losses suffered by communities in the region.
