Weather: Thunderstorms, flooding risks expected across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) issued a weather alert, warning of thunderstorms that are likely to impact most parts of the country on Saturday.
The forecast suggests that heavy rainfall could lead to significant flooding in low-lying areas, raising concerns for residents in northern Pakistan.

Murree, the Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, and DG Khan are at risk of flooding.
Residents in southern Pakistan–Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Thatta and Badin–were warned of the risk of flooding, as well.
Islamabad Weather
In the capital, residents can expect rain accompanied by strong winds.
Punjab weather
Isolated showers are also expected in nearby areas such as Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sargodha, Khushab, and Sheikhupura.
The Met Office that slight rainful is expected in Kasur, Lodhran, Okara, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
Weather in Balochistan
The weather outlook predicts rain accompanied by strong winds in Zhob, Musakhel, Kohlu, Barkhan, Ziarat, Sibi, Naseerabad, Dera Bugti, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, Usta Muhammad, Loralai, Kalat, Lasbela and Awaran.
The PMD specifically warned of the risk of flooding in rain drains across several districts, including Musakhel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Lasbela, and Kalat.
The combination of strong winds and heavy rains poses a huge threat to weak infrastructure, including electricity poles, vehicles, and solar panels; these may be vulnerable to damage during the storms.
Sindh Weather
Sindh is expected to experience rain in major citifies such as Hyderabad, Karachi, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Khairpur, Nowshera, among other.
The Met Office warn of the risk of flooding in the districts of Dadu and Qambar Shahdadkot.
Rains, Landslides Risk in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Traffic disruptions are expected due to potential landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Met Office predicted rain in Dir, Swat, Kahistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Bannu, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Hangu and Kurram.
