Weekly inflation drops as prices of key commodities fall

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s weekly inflation has seen a further decline, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Friday. The latest figures indicate a 1.10 per cent drop in the weekly inflation rate, bringing the annual cumulative rate to 26.94 per cent.
Over the past week, 15 commodities witnessed price hikes, while 10 experienced a decrease. Meanwhile, 26 items maintained price stability, the PBS said.

According to the weekly report, significant reductions were noted in the prices of tomatoes and onions, which fell by 20.83 per cent and 14.43 per cent, respectively. Additionally, the cost of chicken and flour dropped by 11.64 per cent and 4.92 per cent.
Other decreases were recorded in the prices of eggs, bananas, garlic, and LPG. Conversely, potato prices saw a 1.80 per cent increase, while the cost of ghee rose by 0.70 per cent. Sugar prices also edged up by 0.60 per cent, the PBS said.
