Who are prominent legislators retiring from Senate?


ISLAMABAD: Prominent figures are set to retire from the Upper House, including Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Senate Leader Ishaq Dar, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Senator Shahzad Hussain Syed, and Azam Swati.

After serving their full six-year terms, these notable senators, such as Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Senate Leader Ishaq Dar, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, and Senator Shahzad Hussain Syed, will retire from the Senate in March 2024. They were elected in March 2018.

Among these senators, there is one from each of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan National Party, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Muslim League Functional.

From Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the retiring senators include Senator Behramand Tangi, Senator Daulat Khan, Senator Faisal Javaid, Senator Fida Khan, Senator Azam Swati, Senator Talha Mahmood Khan, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Senator Dr Meher Taj Roghani, Senator Robina Khalid, and Senator Pir Sabir Shah.

From Punjab, the retiring senators include Senator Dr Shahzad Waseem, Senator Dr Asif Kirmani, Senator Hafiz Abdul Karim, Senator Kamran Michael, Senator Ishaq Dar, Senator Musadik Malik, Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan, Senator Sajid Mir, and Senator Shahin Khalid Butt.

From Sindh province, the retiring senators include Senator Anwar Lal Dean, Senator Dr Farogh Naseem, Senator Khushbakht Shujaat, Senator Imamuddin Shouqeen, Senator Khalida Ateeb, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Senator Mola Bakhsh Chandio, Senator Quratulain Marri, Senator Syed Ali Shah Jamote, Senator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, and Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi.

Meanwhile, from Balochistan province, the retiring senators include Senator Abida Azim, Senator Ahmed Khan, Senator Maulvi Faiz Ahmed, Senator Akram Khan, Senator Sadiq Sanjrani, Senator Tahir Bizenjo, Senator Nasibullah Bazai, Senator Sana Jamali, and Senator Sardar Shafique Tareen.

From the federal capital Islamabad, the retiring senators include Senator Shahzad Hussain Syed and Senator Asad Ali Khan Junejo, while from the former FATA region, the retiring senators include Senator Hilal-ur-Rehman, Senator Shamim Afridi, Senator Marza Khan Afridi, and Senator Hidayatullah Khan.
