Widespread rainfall, flooding forecast across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Met Department has issued a comprehensive weather forecast, predicting widespread rainfall and potential flooding across various regions of Pakistan.

According to the department, Islamabad is expected to experience partly cloudy weather with scattered showers. In contrast, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan. Other areas, including Kasur, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan, are also likely to witness significant rain.

This forecast extends to Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, and Bahawalpur, with heavy rain expected in Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

The southwestern regions, including Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbela, Awaran, Nasirabad, Sibbi, and Jafarabad, are also on high alert for heavy showers. Similarly, Kohlu, Bolan, Jhal Magsi, and Panjgur are expected to experience intense rainfall.

In Sindh, the Met Department predicts rain across multiple cities, including Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Sanghar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Nowshahro Feroz.

In Punjab, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert due to expected heavy rains over the next 24 hours. The PDMA spokesperson confirmed that the monsoon spell is likely to continue until August 31.

Deputy commissioners across Punjab have been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure readiness for any emergency situation. The PDMA has warned of potential urban and flash flooding, particularly in major cities.
