Will be last person to leave Islamabad, Bushra Bibi tells supporters at D-Chowk

Bushra Bibi nov 26 protest

ISLAMABAD: The wife of former prime minister Imran Khan and former first lady Bushra Bibi on Tuesday took allegiance from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers that they would not leave Islamabad without getting their leader (Imran) released from jail.

Addressing charged PTI workers at D-Chowk on Tuesday night, Bushra Bibi reassured the crowd of Imran Khan’s unwavering commitment to his supporters. “Imran Khan is enduring for you, and he will continue to stand with you. You should promise that you will not leave D-Chowk until Imran Khan himself joins you,” she declared.

Bushra Bibi vowed to remain at D-Chowk till the last worker leaves the capital. “This is my promise to you: I will be the last person standing here. I will not leave without Khan. If anyone tells you that I’ve left, know that it’s a lie,” she said emphatically as the rally resonated with chants of “Jina hoga, marna hoga, dharna hoga” (If we live, we protest).

The PTI protesters reaffirmed their resolve to stay put until their demands were met.

PTI convoys from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country finally reached D-Chowk after navigating barricades.

At D-Chowk, videos and footage emerged of Bushra Bibi, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other party leaders joining the PTI workers.

After reaching D-Chowk, the party initially announced a sit-in until its demands were met. The protest convoys, led by PTI leaders and former first lady Bushra Bibi reached the capital’s Red Zone despite blockades and barricades at several places from Peshwar to Islamabad.

As the PTI workers started trickling in Blue Area, police did not attempt to stop the marchers as they moved toward the highly sensitive security zone.

The PTI protesters, however, faced heavy tear gas shelling from police and other law enforcers and PTI workers pelted stones.
