Will dissolve NA on August 9: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that he will send a summary to the president, seeking the dissolution of the National Assembly on August 9.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by him for lawmakers, the premier addressed the gathering, reflecting on the challenging times his government faced.

“I will consult all parties and the opposition leader for the caretaker prime minister,” he said. “Making a deal with the International Monetary Fund was not easy and we successfully managed it.”

“Despite all the criticism in the last 15 months, we saved the country. Our conscience is satisfied that the country was saved from crisis by sacrificing our politics,” he said.

A caretaker government will have 90 days to hold the general election.
