Will it rain on Independence Day?

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rains in various parts of the country from today (Wednesday) and there are chances of isolated rain on Independence Day.
According to the PMD, rainfall is expected in Islamabad, Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan at scattered places.
The department said westerly winds are currently affecting the upper parts of the country and are likely to intensify from August 17.
Between August 14 and 17, heavy showers are expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

From August 17, the intensity of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal is also expected to increase, leading to widespread heavy rains across the country between August 18 and 21.
The PMD warned that heavy downpours may trigger landslides in hilly areas and cause urban flooding in low-lying localities.
GLOF THREAT FORECAST FOR KP THIS WEEK
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of strong winds and thundershowers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the ongoing week, with a risk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) due to prevailing weather conditions.
Tourists and travellers have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and take precautionary measures.
In case of any emergency, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department has urged the public to contact its helpline at 1422.

WATER LEVEL RISES IN RIVER SUTLEJ
The water level in the River Sutlej continues to rise due to inflows from India, with the situation becoming critical in several areas.
According to irrigation officials, water inflow at Head Sulemanki has reached 36,884 cusecs, while outflow stands at 25,670 cusecs.
