Woman killed in gas cylinder explosion in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A woman died while her husband and daughter were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a house in Alipur, Shahzad Town, Islamabad.
According to the police, the deceased woman has been identified as Ambreen. The injured include her husband Faisal and daughter Aiza.
Police officials said the injured and the woman’s body were immediately shifted to the hospital after the gas cylinder explosion in Islamabad.
Following the explosion, panic and fear gripped the area and residents came out of their homes.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
According to an advisory issued by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), consumers are urged to take extra precautions while using fuel gas.

The company has warned against using rubber pipes with gas heaters and stoves, stressing that proper ventilation must be maintained in rooms and kitchens.
Consumers should also make sure all gas appliances—such as stoves, geysers, and heaters—are switched off properly after use, the advisory added.
Citizens have also been to contact the nearest office of the gas utility by dialling emergency number 1199 in case of gas leakage.
POLICE ENCOUNTER: ROBBER KILLED
An alleged police encounter took place in the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station, Rawalpindi, in which one suspect was killed while three managed to escape.
According to police, a suspicious vehicle was signaled to stop, but the suspects opened fire on the police. In response, police returned fire.
After the exchange of gunfire stopped, a search of the area using spotlights revealed one suspect dead from gunshot wounds.
Police said efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing suspects. The vehicle used by the suspects has been taken into custody.
