WEB DESK: Expecting a pleasant weather with rain and winds, people of Islamabad were in for a rude surprise when they unexpectedly received a hailstorm with hailstones as big as tennis balls. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) took to its Instagram to remind everyone that this was not a ‘random’ weather event, rather this signifies growing pattern of climate extremes.
Many people complained about the impact faced by their vehicles and houses as various cars, solar panels and windows wore the signs of intense hail.

The global organisation also said in its Instagram post that rising global temperatures translated as ‘more violent hailstorms and unpredictable weather, with larger chunks of ice and more intense downpours’.
It added that from ‘floods to heatwaves and now hailstorms, Pakistan is on the frontlines of the climate crisis.’
The Minister of Climate Change, Musadik Malik addressed the press today about the petroleum prices, inflation as well as the progress achieved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif but did not mention yesterday’s hailstorm and the havoc it caused, as an alarm for the changing trends.
