Zardari condemns brutal killing of labourers in Panjgur

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the brutal killing of labourers in the Panjgur region of Balochistan on Saturday.
Zardari denounced the ruthless massacre as “highly reprehensible”.

In a public statement, the president expressed regret over the tragic loss of lives. He stated that the country urgently needed effective measures against terrorists targeting workers and labourers.
Zardari said that assaulting innocent workers and civilians was an abhorrent and unacceptable act.
The president conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for their forgiveness of those who perished.
He also hoped for a qu8ikc and full recovery of those injured in the violent attack.
The attack took place in Panjgur, Balochistan late on Saturday when militants entered a house and indiscriminately fired at the occupants. The attack left seven dead, and one critically injured.
According to sources, law enforcement authorities arrived on the scene quickly. They transported the bodies and the injured to a local hospital, while an investigation was launched into the incident.
The law enforcers have also started a search operation against the attackers.
The workers had been working on a construction project in the area when they were gunned down. The victims all belonged to Punjab.
No group has claimed responsbility the attack so far, although the terrorist organisation Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has been brought up as a possible suspect.

This is not the first time workers belonging to Punjab were gunned down in Balochistan. In August, 23 workers were forced out of the busses they were traveling in and shot dead by BLA militants.
The latest attack has again highlighted the flawed security situation in Balochistan, with many calling for a more comprehensive strategy to tackle terrorism in the province.
