ISLAMABAD: The Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Tuesday.

The committee’s meeting, presided over by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, concluded with the announcement that no credible evidence of crescent sighting had been received from across the country.

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Cahirman Abdul Khabir Azad said that the first of Zil Hajj in Pakistan will fall on May 29, and Eidul Azha will be observed across the country on Saturday, June 7.

Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees also met separately at their respective headquarters to observe the moon for Eidul Azha.

The Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and in Quetta, according to Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Islamabad to sight the Zil Hajj moon.

The meeting was attended by members from the committee, SUPARCO, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and other relevant institutions.

Earlier this week, SUPARCO had issued a forecast regarding the moon sighting for Zil Hajj based on “scientific analysis, astronomical data, and modern observational techniques.”

According to SUPARCO, the new moon of Zil Hajj was expected to be born on May 27, indicating that Eidul Azha was likely to be celebrated across Pakistan on June 7.
