ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founding leader Akbar S. Babar has written a letter to the Interior Minister demanding an investigation into the alleged foreign funding accounts of the party.

In the letter addressed to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Babar highlighted concerns over the delayed implementation of a decision regarding the PTI foreign funding case, urging swift action to address the matter.

Expressing dismay over the prolonged inaction, Babar underscored the urgency of addressing the issue of PTI’s foreign bank accounts, which he claimed had been flagged but not been subjected to legal scrutiny. He cautioned against the potential misuse of illegal foreign accounts for activities detrimental to national interests.

Babar wrote that despite evidence of PTI’s involvement in illegal foreign funding, comprehensive legal action has yet to be taken, raising alarming implications for national security. He called for the full implementation of all aspects of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) August 2022 decision in the foreign funding case, stressing the gravity of maintaining transparency and accountability in political finances.

Moreover, Babar also noted that it is imperative to hold accountable all Pakistani citizens involved in tarnishing the country’s reputation by utilising secret foreign accounts for unlawful activities.
