ISLAMABAD: An appeal was filed on Wednesday against Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon’s non-bailable arrest warrant, show-cause notice and ban on going abroad by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The IHC took strict action against the deputy commissioner for not following court orders. The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Memon, alongside a show-cause notice and a ban on his travel abroad due to failure to appear before the court when summoned.

Meanwhile, the IHC’s Registrar Office raised objections over the intra-court appeal filed against these measures.
The appeal is slated for hearing by a bench comprising Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
The need for an arrest warrant came after Memon missed his scheduled court appearance. The court also demanded Memon’s response to a second show-cause notice by February 26.
Earlier, the IHC prohibited the DC from traveling overseas. This ruling was issued during a session regarding the detentions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) figures Sheharyar Afridi and Shandana Gulzar last September.
The high court declined Memon’s apology for disobeying its directives, as he was absent from a hearing for his contempt of court case.
