ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorism court, Islamabad announced that it will conduct daily hearings against the founder and former chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and others in cases registered with the Sangjani and I-9 police stations.

The ATC judge, Tahir Abbas Sipra, has sought a written reply from the Adiala Jail Superintendent regarding the appearance of Imran Khan through a video link.

Ali Nawaz Awan, Waseem Qayyum, Amir Kayani, and other accused joined the court proceedings. The KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur and Amir Mughal submitted requests to be exempted from personal appearance.

The judge categorically said that any requests for exemption from appearance will not be accepted. The judge noted that it’s not a valid reason to remain absent from the court proceedings if anyone is out of town.

The judge further noted non-bailable arrest warrants are being issued for all accused who did not join court proceedings. The PTI’s lawyers requested a chance to present all accused before the court during the next hearing.

The ATC judge said the court would declare the absentees absconders if they do not join the proceedings on July 8, which is the next date fixed for the hearing of both cases. “I have to conclude these cases, which will benefit you. The cases will proceed in line with the law,” the judge stated. – INP
