ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Peoples Party senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has displayed campaign banners featuring himself in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad as part of his election campaign.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said last week that run as an independent candidate in the upcoming general election. His decision to part ways with the PPP was announced in December 2022, shortly after stepping down from his senatorial position. A few months after Khokhar’s resignation, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) resigned as the party’s senior vice president, seemingly paving the way for Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz to have an “open field.”

The resignations of these two prominent political figures from their respective parties fueled speculations about the possibility of them forming a new political entity. However, Khokhar has dismissed any rumours of the formation of a new political party until the general elections of 2024.
