In a separate post on his official Facebook page, Farrukh Khokhar announced that a press conference will be held at 4pm on Friday, July 18, in the presence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, where he will formally announce his decision to join JUI-F.

JUI-F Islamabad chief Pir Mufti Owais Aziz is also expected to attend the event. Khokhar has cited the party’s stance on the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s “courageous leadership” as key reasons behind his decision to align with the religious party.

Farrukh Khokhar hails from a politically influential family. He is the nephew of former deputy speaker Nawaz Khokhar and a cousin of Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.

He is the son of the late Imtiaz Ali Khokhar, popularly known as Taji Khokhar, a well-known yet controversial figure in the Potohar region.

Farrukh’s father was a diehard supporter of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and had strong connections within the party. He faced several legal challenges including cases of murder and land-grabbing.

His house was raided in 2015 on the orders of the then interior minister Chaudhry Nisar. During the joint operation, the law enforcement agencies had recovered a huge cache of weapons and smuggled items. At least 14 Afghan nationals were also arrested from the Taji’s hideouts.

In 2020, Farrukh Khokhar, along with his father, was included in Fourth Schedule list of terrorists by the Rawalpindi police.

He was also accused of murdering her wife — a mother of four — who was found dead in his house in 2023 with signs of strangulation around her neck.

The murder case registered with Airport police on the complaint of Ali Raza, brother of the deceased, Ramsha.

Farrukh’s brother, Samar Imtiaz was also nominated in the FIR.
