ISLAMABAD: Police in Jhelum have arrested former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry’s brother when he came to submit nomination papers .
Faraz Chaudhry came on Friday to submit nomination papers of his brother from NA-60 for contesting February 8 general elections.
Police said Faraz Chaudhry, Fawad Chaudhry’s brother, was wanted by them in connection with several cases.
Faraz Chaudhry has been shifted to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) building in Jhelum.
Fawad Chaudhry to contest on two seats amidst graft case
Faraz Chaudhry was also the former secretary general of PTI Jhelum.
Fawad Chaudhry has announced his candidacy for the upcoming general elections in not one, but two constituencies in Jhelum—NA 61 and NA 62. The revelation came during an informal exchange with journalists at the Accountability Court, Federal Judicial Complex where Chaudhry was presented by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to secure physical remand in connection with an ongoing graft case.
Meanwhile, police in Rawalpindi also arrested PTI leader Raja Wahid Mahfooz after he submitted his nomination papers on Friday.
Civil Line police personnel arrested Wahid Mahfooz from district courts.
More than 60 leaders and workers of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have been arrested here in Punjab province in connection with the attacks on military installations in May.
