Forest land scam case reopened against Parvez Elahi

LAHORE: The case involving the alleged illegal allotment of forest land by former chief minister Parvez Elahi has been reopened, according to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

NAB investigators assert that the former chief minister had allocated forest land to a real estate tycoon for the development of a housing society.

In its pursuit of the truth, NAB has requested comprehensive information regarding the sale and purchase of both movable and immovable properties belonging to 14 individuals, including Parvez Elahi, private town owners, and land revenue officers in Rawalpindi. This information has been sought from the deputy commissioners (DC) of 15 districts, including Islamabad.

The districts from which NAB is seeking these details encompass Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Gwadar, Multan, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Attock, Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala.

Among the officers whose asset details are under scrutiny by NAB are Javed Majeed, Ghulam Muhammad Sikandar, Jahangir Ghori, Jameel Ahmed, Irfan Elahi, Syed Jamal Mustafa, Asif Qureshi, Anwarul Haque, Shafqat Ali Mirza, Tasawar Hussain, Muhammad Nawaz, Khalid Masood, and Abdul Zahoor.

It is worth noting that Parvez Elahi stands accused of facilitating the improper transfer of Takht Pari forest land, located near Rawalpindi, to a private individual in collusion with officials from the Forest Department.
