RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met with the former chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in Adiala jail, ahead of the PTI’s planned protest rally.
The meeting continued for about an hour and a half in the conference room. After the meeting, CM Gandapur left the Adiala Jail premises without speaking to media.
According to sources, the chief minister discussed national politics, party affairs, and pending cases with the former prime minister.
PTI has issued a ‘final call to protest’ for upcoming Saturday, November 24. Sources said that the protest rally and related issues were also discussed during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the apex committee meeting, sources said.
CM Gandapur is expected to lead the caravan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa towards Islamabad for the protest. The chief minister has also held meetings in the CM House in Peshawar with the party leaders and activists to plan for the protest.
Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and his sisters, Aleema and Uzma Khan, have also been playing a prominent role in organising the protest. Earlier, PTI Spokesperson Barrister Saif ‘warned’ the government against putting restrictions and blockades in the path of the PTI rally.
PTI leaders are claiming to bring thousands of protestors to the capital city, and to stage a sit-in until Imran Khan is released and the 26th constitutional amendment is repealed.
