Gandapur threatens dissolution of KP Assembly

Gandapur

PESHAWAR: In a video statement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has threatened to dissolve the provincial assembly, if the federal government tries to overthrow the provincial government.

“I can dissolve the assembly at any time,” Gandapur said, before alleging that the federal government is causing problems in passage of KP annual budget. He said, “If we do not pass the budget, the federation can take control of the province on the basis of financial emergency. There is an attempt to overthrow the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government through conspiracies.”

The chief minister also alleged that KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has not even approved the summary sent for the budget session.

CM Gandapur said that he has instructed members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly not to participate in voting on cut motions today. “If voting on cut motions begins, the process of approving the budget will begin,” he added.

He said that the budget cannot be approved without consultations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, adding that the government is not allowing for the meeting between Imran Khan and the PTI leaders on budget.

“Consultation with Imran Khan on the budget approval is his political right,” Gandapur said, adding that the budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will only approved only after the approval by Imran Khan.

“We are not being allowed to meet the founder of PTI on the issue of budget. I will not let this conspiracy succeed. We will launch a movement against this system; this system cannot continue anymore,” CM Gandapur said, adding, “We will not let such a system continue”.
