Govt is responsible for resolving conflicts, easing tensions: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD: The government is responsible for bringing the country out of the current situation of conflicts and tension, says former finance minister Asad Umar.

Speaking to media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said, “I have been saying for a long time that there is political heat, and there is a situation of conflict and tension [in the country]”.

He said that Pakistan needs to be brought out of this situation and the responsibility of bringing the country out of such situations always lies with the government of the day. “Whatever is happening, if [the government] thinks that the situation will improve by using force, [they should remember that] it has never happened and it will never happen”.

He said that the country’s situation was getting worse and the government should take immediate steps before irreparable damage occurs.

Alluding to the latest reports of discord between the PTI’s ranks, the former politician said that with the amount of pressure on the opposition party, such conflicts are not unexpected.
