KARACHI: A joint operation involving the national agencies Customs, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), and Airports Security Force (ASF) was carried out at Jinnah International Airport Karachi, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs from a passenger.

Reports indicate that the international value of the seized drugs amounts to Rs56 million. According to a spokesman, during a routine check at the common search counter for passengers’ luggage, airport staff discovered 2,700 grams of hashish and 1,000 grams of methamphetamine in the luggage of a passenger named Kalimullah, who was traveling from Karachi to Sharjah.

The drugs, valued at Rs56 million internationally, had been concealed within an animal-shaped decoration piece crafted from Plaster of Paris by the passenger.

It is worth noting that customs officials have been actively monitoring activities at Jinnah International Airport Karachi. Recently, customs officials uncovered a case of tax evasion related to fake receipts on consignments from a private company.

The company had attempted to evade taxes totaling 140 million rupees. Customs officials revealed that the tax evasion scheme involved fake receipts created by company employees Ghulam Saber Ghori and Zeeshan Ahmed, who understated the value of the goods.

According to customs officials, the declared value of the goods was Rs144 million, significantly less than the actual value, which exceeded Rs437.1 million. There were no accompanying receipts or packing lists with the consignments, leading to a case being registered against various partners involved in the scheme, and the goods were confiscated due to the use of fraudulent documents.
