IHC orders to provide facilities to PTI chief in jail

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a written order to provide facilities to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief according to the law.
The order was issued on a plea of PTI chief who has sought court directions for shifting him from Attock jail to Adiala jail and the provision of facilities.
In the written order, the IHC said that the PTI chief be granted facilities in accordance with the law and jail regulations.
According to the written order, the petitioner’s lawyer stated that the PTI chairman had submitted a request for transfer from Attock jail to Adiala jail.
According to the lawyer, the order said, the PTI chief has sought A-class facilities in jail.
It said that the lawyer has further highlighted that the petitioner has the authority to file the transfer request through his attorney.
Moreover, the high court allowed three lawyers namely Sher Afzal Marwat, Amir Niazi, and Naeem Haider Panjootha, to meet the PTI chief in jail.
IHC to hear PTI chief’s plea seeking suspension of sentence
The court directed the Attock jail authorities to facilitate a meeting between the three lawyers and the PTI chairman.
The IHC said that the lawyers were seeking to meet with the PTI chief to obtain his signature on the power of attorney and receive instructions.
The court also directed the IHC Registrar’s Office to schedule for hearing on Wednesday the PTI chairman’s plea requesting to be shifted to Adiala jail from Attock jail.
