ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Monday intervened to mediate between party MNA Salman Akram Raja and counsel Faisal Chaudhary days after the former removed the latter from cases concerning the former prime minister.
Salman Akram, who is also the Secretary General of the PTI, had also removed advocate Faisal Chaudhry from the party’s WhatsApp group after he talked to the media outside Adiala jail following a meeting with the party founder last Friday.
According to a source, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali was also present during the mediation brokered between the two by Imran Khan in Adiala jail. Sources said that on the instruction of Imran Khan, Faisal Chaudhry was reinstated into the PTI’s legal team.
According to the sources, Imran Khan directed Faisal Chaudhary to follow party discipline and directives.
On Saturday, the PTI distanced itself from a petition filed in the Islamabad High Court by Faisal Chaudhry on behalf of Imran Khan challenging the withdrawal of certain facilities to the former premier in Adiala jail.

Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, who is also the brother of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, had claimed that the petition was filed with the consent of PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. However, Barrister Gohar clarified that Faisal Chaudhry had filed the plea on his own and used an outdated power of attorney (wakalatnama) of Imran Khan.
