Imran Khan’s house arrest offer conveyed through Moshin Naqvi, claims Marwat

ISLAMABAD: Sher Afzal Marwat, leader of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI), has claimed that the offer to place former prime minister Imran Khan under house arrest was conveyed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

In an interview with a private news channel, Marwat stated that after the offer to place Imran Khan under house arrest was rejected, the establishment and government, through Mohsin Naqvi, made an offer on December 20 to release Khan.

However, due to the events that transpired on November 26, the situation changed and the process of talks was started.

The PTI leader further claimed that in the past establishment frequently made direct and indirect contacts; however, all backdoor talk channels halted after November 26, He said that if Mohsin Naqvi had been included in the talks process, things would have been different as he would have shown flexibility.

Meanwhile, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ayub clarified that the party had only restored contact with the government before November 26.

He stated that no negotiations with Mohsin Naqvi or discussions regarding transferring Imran Khan to Bani Gala had taken place before that date.

Barrister Gohar also emphasised that there was no dialogue with the government, Mohsin Naqvi, or the establishment on Imran Khan’s release, house arrest, or transfer at any stage.

Earlier, after meeting Imran Khan in jail, his sister Aleema Khan had claimed that an offer for house arrest in Bani Gala was brought by Ali Amin Gandapur. She added that deal offers had been coming since day one, though no direct contact had been made.
