Imran Shafqat: PTI could win over 10 seats in Lahore today

Imran Shafqat

ISLAMABAD: Senior Analyst Imran Shafqat has recently voiced his observations on the current political landscape in Pakistan, suggesting a significant surge in support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) across the nation.

Speaking on the programme Hum Dekhenge with Mansoor Ali Khan on HUM News, Shafqat predicted that if an election were held today, PTI might win over 10 out of the 14 seats in Lahore.

Shafqat pointed out that PTI chief has consistently faced political repercussions for the decisions made, often underestimating the challenges ahead. Despite this, he emphasised the prevailing sentiment that PTI has been treated unfairly and has garnered public sympathy.

Shafqat pointed out that PML-N is not active in politics right now, giving PTI a good opportunity. He attributed Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz’s (PML-N) weakened position to its failure to address the concerns of the masses and its limited direct engagement with the public.

According to Shafqat, voters assess the prevailing inflation rates and relief measures when casting their ballots. With PML-N leaders not actively engaging with the electorate, PTI stands in a favourable position, even in traditionally PML-N dominated areas.

Meanwhile, Imran Shafqat underscored PTI’s strong position, citing a perception among the public that PTI has been mistreated and oppressed. Additionally, he argued that PML-N had failed to provide relief to the masses during the past 16 months.

Regarding Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s claim of an uneven political playing field in the current scenario, Shafqat acknowledged the validity of this concern, indicating that PML-N appeared to receive preferential treatment.
