KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) on Sunday rejected the approval of the 2023 census by the Council of Common Interests (CCI), warning the “fraud” in the name of digital census will not be accepted.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said his party would approach judiciary against “the flawed exercise” which has compromised the rights of citizens of Karachi.
He demanded that each and every person living in the city should be counted as a resident of Karachi.
Lashing out at Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Naeem said no effort was made to address the discrepancies in the 2023 census which were witnessed in the enumeration process carried out in 2017.
JI Karachi chief also criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and MQM-P for notifying the flawed results of the last census carried out in 2017.
