MULTAN: The city of Multan witnessed incidents of arson and vandalism on May 9, coinciding with the interim bail hearings of former Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhary and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The court will hear the bail applications for Chaudhary, whose cases span three different police stations in Multan: Old Kotwali, Jalilabad, and Cantt. These stations have recorded various instances of arson linked to the recent unrest.

Both Chaudhary and Qureshi face accusations of inciting citizens to riot following the arrest of the then chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has also issued interim order in case of barring Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest and JIT’s notice. LHC said that not making arrests in cases is a clear violation of law. The court issued notices to the parties concerned and called for reports and responses.
