Nawaz-Zardari agree on holding elections promptly


DUBAI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari have reached a consensus about holding elections at the earliest. 

In addition, both the leaders also reached issues related to electoral reforms and the caretaker setup.

The Dubai meeting between the heads of the two major parties was part of the Charter of Democracy.

Both the leaders also finalised the formula for the caretaker setup in Sindh and Balochistan. 

According to sources, the caretaker setup in the coalition will have a higher number of individuals recommended by the PML-N and the representation of the PPP and other parties will be proportionate. 

The caretaker federal government will hold elections at the designated time in coordination with the Election Commission.

Nawaz and Zardari agreed to not publicly share the names of the individuals part of the caretaker setup in the media and party meetings before the scheduled time.
