‘Pervez Khattak to launch new political party’

ISLAMABAD: Lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat, a close confidant of Parvez Khattak, has claimed that the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader is all set to launch his own political party within a days.

Marwat, who previously served as the legal representative the the PTI chief in the Toshakhana case, said that the new party would have former PTI members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly and National Assembly.

Marwat said that Khattak’s new party plans to garner support from six key regions including the Malakand division, Lakki Marwat and Kohat.

He claimed that several PTI leaders from Malakand division were in contact with Khattak, who, he said, has the backing of the powers that be.

He further claimed that a senior PTI leader was soon going to give a surprise by joining the Khattak camp.

Khattak stepped down as PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president earlier in the June after holding a press conference along with former Ntional Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser after they were allegedly kept in a safe house in Islamabad for several hours before they agreed to part ways with former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan.
