PM Shehbaz condemns Israeli attack on Iran, calls for global intervention

WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed grave concern over the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, strongly condemning the recent Israeli strike on Iranian territory during a federal cabinet meeting.

“The Israeli attack constitutes blatant aggression, resulting in the martyrdom of innocent Iranian citizens,” the prime minister stated, urging the international community to play an active role in brokering a ceasefire between the two nations.

PM Shehbaz also highlighted the ongoing violence in Gaza, questioning, “How long will the world remain silent about Israeli brutalities?” while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability.

Economic Recovery & IMF Talks

Shifting to domestic matters, the premier announced his government had successfully averted economic default and was stabilizing the economy. “We have clearly told the IMF we will not impose taxes on the agriculture sector,” he asserted, noting visible improvements in Pakistan’s financial situation.

The prime minister commended PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and his delegation for effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance on international platforms, describing their efforts as commendable service to the nation.

21 Islamic states back Iran’s sovereignty

Separately Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated that 21 Muslim nations have issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s aggressive attack on Iran, which violated international laws. The Muslim countries expressed full support for Iran’s security, territorial sovereignty, and independence while demanding an immediate ceasefire. Dar emphasized that the Iran-Israel conflict poses a serious threat not only to regional but also global peace. The resolution, backed by Pakistan and other Muslim states, also advocates for a nuclear weapons-free Middle East and supports the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) for all regional countries.
