PPP always stressed neutrality of interim setup, says Nisar Khuhro

ISLAMABAD: Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Senator Nisar Khuhro underscored the party’s stance on the importance of having a neutral interim setup.
During the programme Upfront with Mona Alam on HUM News, Khuhro said when Ishaq Dar was proposed as a candidate for the care taker prime minister role, it was PPP who stressed the importance of neutrality of the candidate.
“The decision regarding the selection of the caretaker premier was to be made by Shehbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz,” Khoro added.

He further said that, “With consensus reached on Anwarul Haq, the peaceful transfer of power is a positive development for the nation’s interest. Now, elections will be held, and the party securing the majority will form the government,”
Meanwhile, Nisar Khuhro said that President does not possess the authority to set the election date. The Election Commission holds the power to determine the election schedule.
While discussing about Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI), he remarked, “Apart from KP, PTI has never held a significant majority positon in the nation, it was more of a ‘big group’. It has undergone division into three factions; the extent of their losses will become evident in the upcoming election.”
