SIBI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Kohyar Domki won by getting 35,665 votes, according to unofficial results.
Independent candidate Mir Asghar Khan Marri trailed second with 11,949 votes, unofficial results of all polling stations in PB-8 constituency of Sibi, Balochistan show.
It is notable that Mir Asghar Khan Marri – who had also gotten second-highest votes in the last general elections – had boycotted the by-elections in the middle of the polling process yesterday.
“The entire state machinery is trying to win the candidate of a party, in these circumstances there is no other way except boycott,” Marri had alleged.
The seat had fallen vacant due to the death of PPP’s Provincial Assembly member Sarfraz Domki who had won in the general elections.
Police and Frontier Constabulary (FC) were deployed at Sibi on the highly sensitive polling stations. CCTV monitoring of these polling stations was also being done.
