PTI calls for transparency in justice while responding to DG ISPR’s talk

PTI to ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while responding to the DG ISPR’s recent press conference, emphasized the need for transparency in justice and adherence to constitutional principles.

In his media talk, Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif emphasized the need to break the “political backing of the illegal spectrum in the country”.

Responding to this talk, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said in a statement that justice demands complete transparency, and the state must rise above traditional practices to uphold justice.

He criticized the use of preconceived narratives and said that decisions based on such notions neither deliver justice nor gain public acceptance.

Akram underscored the importance of constitutional courts, saying, “Decisions on accountability and punishment belong to the judiciary under the Constitution. Military courts undermine both justice and the constitutional framework of the state.”

“That is why,” he added, “only the decisions by independent constitutional courts are recognized and respected globally.”

The PTI spokesperson further argued that the root cause of unrest in the country lies in flawed narratives and actions.

Describing the official stance as “deeply divisive and unrealistic,” he warned that such stance pits the public against state institutions and fuels conflict.

Akram also said, “Criticism of flawed policies and public expression of opinion are being labeled as ‘rebellion’ or ‘anti-state.’ This destructive trend is detrimental to Pakistan.”

Commenting on the protests, Akram said, “If peaceful protests are a right of every political party, why is PTI denied this right? Why are our paths blocked, and our unarmed workers labeled as miscreants?” He also questioned the imposition of Article 245 and the blocking of roads during the PTI protests.

The PTI spokesperson emphasized that the resolution of issues like the May 9 incident requires independent judicial investigations based on evidence, including CCTV footage, rather than aggressive press conferences or threats.

Lauded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and labeling it as ‘Form 45 government’, Akram said, “KP has met IMF targets, achieved a 44% increase in revenue, and maintained a cash surplus. The provincial government is actively addressing the situation in Kurram through effective measures, including conflict resolution via local jirgas, he added

He urged the state to abandon a retaliatory approach against PTI leadership and align its priorities with constitutional and democratic principles, asserting that this would pave the way for stability and progress in Pakistan.
