PTI chief’s plea for shifting to Adiala jail set for hearing

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court’s Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will hear on Tuesday (tomorrow) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief’s plea, seeking court orders for shifting him to Adiala jail Rawalpindi from from Attock jail.
The application has also raised various concerns regarding the treatment being meted out to the former prime minister, who was arrested on Saturday after a court sentenced him to three years in prison for illegally selling state gifts.
The plea has also raised the issue of lack of facilities for the PTI chairman during his detention in Attock jail.
It has sought orders for the discontinuation of his unlawful detention in the current facility.
Furthermore, it has been requested for the provision of A-alass amenities to the PTI chairman in jail.
Additionally, the application has sought permission for a medical examination of the PTI chairman by Dr Faisal Sultan.
The plea has sought court intervention for ensuring the well-being and health of the detained PTI chairman.
Toshakhana case: IHC to take up PTI chairman’s plea on Aug 10
The application has also sought permission for the PTI chairman’s family and legal representatives to meet him.
However, the IHC’s Registrar Office has raised objection regarding the jurisdiction of the case, which has also been raised in the plea.
Furthermore, the IHC’s Registrar Office has also raised objection over the absence of the PTI chairman’s signature on the power of attorney document, questioning the authenticity of the submitted legal representation.
Arrest in Toshakha case
The PTI chairman has been arrested in the Toshakha case involving allegations of financial misconduct and embezzlement.
The PTI chief has been accused of involvement in financial irregularities. His arrest came after an investigation into the matter and subsequent legal proceedings.
The former premier has denied the charges and said they were politically motivated. His party, the PTI, has challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court.
The Toshakhana case is one of several corruption cases against the PTI chief and his associates.
