MARDAN: In a recent development, the Mardan Police conducted a raid at the residence of PTI leader and former provincial minister, Atif Khan, in his absence.
The police have stated that FIRs (First Information Reports) have been filed against him in connection with his alleged involvement in the events of May 9 and 10. During those dates, nationwide protests resulted in the destruction of public property and confrontations with authorities following the arrest of PTI chairperson.

The Vice President of PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has highlighted that the houses of former MPA Abdul Salam were also subject to similar raids, raising concerns about the legality of conducting such actions without a proper warrant.
PTI leader and former provincial minister Kamran Bangash was also apprehended by the police and subsequently moved to an undisclosed location on Friday. Bangash faces multiple charges related to the events of May 9 and 10 but had been granted pre-arrest bail in several cases.
It is worth noting that back in August, Atif Khan’s son was also detained by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a separate incident.
