SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers were reportedly left unsupported during a demonstration held at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk on August 5.

According to Dawn.com, the protest aimed to contest the conviction of the PTI Chairman in the Toshakhana case.

PTI sources disclosed that despite the imposition of Section 144 by the district administration, key party leaders initiated the protest, but were conspicuously absent when the workers arrived at the venue.

Former MPAs Aqibullah Khan, Rangaiz Khan, and Swabi mayor Attaullah initially led the demonstrators to the new tehsil building on the Swabi-Topi Road. However, they reportedly disappeared as the protest progressed. The workers continued to Karnal Sher Khan Chowk, where they were met with police baton charges, resulting in numerous arrests for violating Section 144.

Critics highlighted the absence of former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser and former education minister Shahram Khan Tarakai during this event. The incident raised questions about the unity and coherence within PTI and its leadership’s involvement in grassroots activism.
