PTI’s protest permission case; IHC re-issues notices

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) under Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz recently heard a petition from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking contempt of court notice for not being allowed to hold protest.

The IHC issued notices to the Interior Secretary, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Inspector General of Islamabad, requesting their responses.

However, the State Council informed that court that they never received these notices. Consequently, the court reissued the notices and sought responses from the involved parties once more.

The hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow.

PTI postpones today’s sit-in in Islamabad, IHC’s verdict still awaited

Due to summer vacation, Justice Saman will not be available; instead, an available bench will conduct the hearing.

In a related matter, Justice Saman previously reserved the verdict in another case concerning a PTI procession (jalsa) in the IHC. This verdict is still awaited.
