PTI’s request for March 30 rally in Islamabad denied

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner has refused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) permission to hold a rally in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on March 30, it emerged on Sunday.

PTI leader Aamir Mughal’s request to the ICT administration was turned down by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, citing concerns over the law and order situation.

The district administration has reiterated its stance that, in light of prevailing circumstances, protests cannot be permitted at any location, including D-Chowk.

It is noteworthy that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad to make a decision regarding the application.

However, the Deputy Commissioner rejected the request, citing the risks associated to the current law and order situation prevalent in the capital and elsewhere in the country.

This development comes amid ongoing political tensions and security concerns in the capital.
