Sanam Javed handed over to Balochistan police, father files appeal

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have handed over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed to Balochistan Police. Soon, she will be presented at the G-11 court, where Balochistan Police will seek her transit remand.

Once the remand is obtained, Javed will be transferred to Balochistan, according to sources.

The arrest was facilitated by Islamabad Police, following a request from Balochistan Police. Javed is wanted in a 2023 case and has been charged under 15 sections, including terrorism, in a case registered at Quetta’s Bijli Road Police Station.

Meanwhile, Javed’s father, Javed Iqbal Khan, has appealed to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for her release. He has filed an application, with Sanam Javed’s husband and other family members accompanying him. The federal government, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Inspector General (IG) Islamabad, and others have been made parties in the application.
