ISLAMABAD: In a candid interview with the media, former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed expressed his views on the legal cases against him and the political situation of the country.
He said, “I think the cases against me are far too many, but I request that at least I should be told about the charges against me”.
Sheikh Rasheed claimed that while he was on chilla (religious retreat), cases were registered against him even in the cities where I have never been.” This raises questions about the legitimacy of the charges and the circumstances surrounding their filing, he said.

Reflecting on challenges, Sheikh Rasheed has had to face lately, he shared, “The only one who loses is the one who gives up. I am hoping for help from Allah and he who does not give up, Allah comes to his help.”
Responding to perceptions about his political involvement, he said, “People say that I don’t do politics. I will do politics from the day the election schedule is released”. He added, “No one understands where the country’s politics is going,” adding, “I have read in the media that the Supreme Court has taken notice on the 15th, but I have not yet received it.”
Sheikh Rasheed said that elections should take place between political parties, not between institutions and parties. The general public is the one to make a decision and the public is smart enough to make the right decision, he said.
In a light-hearted remark, Rasheed stated, “Only two people are silent in Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif and me. He came back on the 21st and I returned on the 22nd”.
In the end, he threw a remark towards Sharif, saying “I have always stood with ‘Gate #4’ but I caught the evil eye. I will wait until the time when the same happens with Nawaz Sharif too”.
