Imran Khan removes Sher Afzal Marwat from focal persons team

ISLAMABAD: Sher Afzal Marwat, known for his outspokenness and temper, faces trouble anew as PTI founder Imran Khan removes him from focal person teams and instructs him to disband his social media team.

Barrister Umair Khan Niazi has also been removed from the focal persons’ team.

The key task of the focal persons is to arrange the people’s meeting with Imran Khan in the jail.  

Sources close to the matter revealed that decision was made to remove Marwat following recommendations from PTI’s core committee.

In a rally on Sunday, visuals showed that Marwat did not let the party chairman address the crowd. The former ruling party has been protesting against the alleged rigging in elections.

The new focal persons now include Omar Ayub, Barrister Ali Zafar, Shibli Faraz, and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

The PTI leadership has also informed the jail administration about the new development.

The new focal persons will provide a list of people, intending to meet with the founder of PTI founder.

Marwat has been instructed to terminate his social media team as well.

This latest development adds to a history of controversy surrounding Marwat, who has previously stirred up internal strife within the party.

Core committee members emphasised the importance of maintaining party cohesion and adherence to established narratives, which they claimed Marwat had undermined with his actions. Amid the verbal confrontation, intervention from party leaders such as Ali Mohammad Khan, Naeem Panjutha, and Barrister Gohar was required to ease tensions.

Last week, tensions flared within PTI ranks following what members described as damaging remarks made by Marwat. The situation escalated during a contentious exchange at a core committee meeting, where Marwat faced criticism from several members.
