Sindh Election Commission undertaking new delimitation

KARACHI: The Election Commissioner of Pakistan’s (ECP) Sindh chapter has directed all District Election Commissioners (DECs) to coordinate with the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and local administration for carrying out the delimitation exercise.

The process of redrawing the boundaries of electoral constituencies takes place following the approval of each new census to ensure that all constituencies have roughly the same number of voters.

The Sindh Election Commissioner has directed the DECs to coordinate for necessary documents including maps and descriptions of census blocks to ensure a smooth delimitation exercise.

The activity is expected to be completed by the end of the current year, hence the announcement by the ECP that elections could not be held in 90-day time defined in the constitution. -INP
