ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has refuted reports of any formal talks between the government and the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI).
In an interview with a private news channel, the minister said neither any meeting was held between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PTI leader Asad Qaiser nor any formal talks have started between the government and the PTI.
Atta Tarar said PTI MNAs had met with the speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to offer their condolence on the death of his sister, which has been twisted.
“First PTI should explain who was behind the May 9 and November 26 incidents”, Tarar questioned.

“How can anyone trust PTI?”, he questioned, adding their history is full of backtracking on their words. Even on the occasion of the passing of the 26th amendment, they backed out of their stance at the last moment.
Earlier, reports had started circulating that communication had been re-established between the government and the PTI and in this regard, a meeting was held at the Speaker’s House with PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar, Omar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Azam Nazir Tarar.
Sources also mentioned that parliament would serve as a platform for negotiations, a proposal reportedly initiated by the Speaker and accepted by both the PTI and the government.
