ISLAMABAD: Three officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sustained injuries during an operation against illegal money exchangers, who were targeted as part of a crackdown on dollar hoarders and unlawful currency exchange activities in the nation’s capital.

The FIA’s operation, conducted in the Blue Area of Islamabad, encountered fierce resistance from personnel associated with illegal money exchange establishments. As a result of the clashes that ensued, three FIA officers were injured while diligently performing their duties.

In a coordinated effort to combat the unlawful hoarding of US dollars, the Federal Investigation Agency, along with several other agencies, initiated a series of operations in the city.

During these operations, the FIA achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering a substantial amount of both local and foreign currencies. This discovery shed light on the extensive scale of underground financial activities in the region.

Among the notable arrests made by the Federal Investigation Agency were hawala/hundi operatives Sheikh Mureed and Sheikh Ijaz, a father and son duo allegedly deeply involved in facilitating illicit financial transactions through Hawala Hundi networks.

Additionally, the Federal Investigation Agency apprehended seven individuals, including the owner, of an illegal money exchange during a raid in the Blue Area of Islamabad.
