KARACHI: As the provincial assembly elected in 2018 enters its final day on Friday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed his optimism that the governor would follow his advice and dissolve the assembly today.
Recalling his political journey, Shah remarked that it was in 2002 when former prime minister late Benazir Bhutto urged him to contest elections.
Since then, he said, he has been elected four times, ultimately becoming the chief minister of Sindh two times.
Acknowledging the historical significance of the Sindh Assembly, he highlighted that it has played a pivotal role in the province’s politics.
Speaking about the challenges he faced during the last five years, Shah stated that the journey wasn’t easy, but he remained committed to his responsibilities.

Reflecting on his time as the chief minister, he commented that the previous federal government, led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, targeted Sindh out of vengeance.
Addressing the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said that despite the challenging circumstances, Sindh had outperformed many developed countries in its response.
He also expressed his gratitude to the leadership that trusted him and his accomplishments.
He specifically mentioned Bilawal Bhutto’s prediction that as a chief minister, even if jailed, he could govern from behind bars.
