26th day of cattle market at Northern Bypass, livestock inflow continues ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

KARACHI, May 12, 2025 — The “Cattle-Friendly Market” at Northern Bypass has entered its 26th day, transforming the 1,100-acre livestock hub into a bustling fairground as thousands of sacrificial animals arrive daily. Operational since April 17, the market has become the preferred destination for traders and citizens alike, thanks to enhanced facilities and infrastructure.

The market offers numerous amenities, including free water supply—30 liters per animal daily—reduced parking fees, and continuous electricity supplied via heavy-duty generators around the clock. To facilitate smooth transactions and support, mobile ATM banks and veterinary teams are stationed across the premises, ensuring both traders and buyers receive necessary assistance.

A dedicated food street in front of the Administrator Block has become a popular attraction, allowing visitors to enjoy local delicacies in a peaceful environment. The inflow of livestock is ongoing, with animals arriving continuously via large trailers and trucks from across Pakistan, including regions in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Notable sources include Sibi, Sahiwal, Cholistan, and breeds such as Australian and Sindhi cows, bulls, calves, and heifers.

High-demand animals include beautifully patterned camels and premium goat breeds like Tapri, Sindhi, and Kamori. The market’s VIP, VVIP, and Sapphire blocks feature premium and heavy animals, attracting significant interest from traders and buyers.

To accommodate the growing number of participants, various sectors—including Sindh, Punjab, KP, Kashmir, and general blocks—have been opened. Administrator Shahab Ali highlighted the improvements, stating, “Traders are being provided with better facilities compared to previous years. ATM services, veterinary support, reduced fees, and improved infrastructure all contribute to the success and increasing popularity of the livestock market.”

The inflow of sacrificial animals is expected to continue until Eid-ul-Azha, promising a vibrant and bustling marketplace in the lead-up to the festival.
