KU’s Professor Dr Abdul Waheed launches second edition of Quantitative Research Methods

Professor Dr Abdul Waheed of the Department of Economics of the University of Karachi launched the second edition of “Quantitative Research Methods” at the KU’s Applied Economics Research Centre’s Auditorium on Monday.
During the launching ceremony, renowned economist Dr Kaiser Bengali, former vice chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Shaheed Benzairabad Professor Dr Amanat Ali Jalbani, and others shared that the book provides a practical approach, introduced the real application of different research tools, and met the demands of teachers and students.
They added that this book is a gift for young scholars and researchers, and students of MPhil and PhD programs could benefit greatly from it. They observed that the book “Quantitative Research Methods” focuses on presenting primary tools of analysis with real examples and references to these in different research papers published in journals of international repute.
They mentioned that the book’s topics cover the major part of the syllabus of the research methodology course of master’s in economics, finance, business administration, and public administration and commerce. This book would benefit students who are writing their master’s, MPhil, or PhD theses and those who want to write research articles for academic and professional journals.
Professor Dr Abdul Waheed the author of Quantitative Research Methods is also the registrar of the University of Karachi and an economist with expertise in quantitative development analyses and specializes in international trade and finance issues.
He informed the audience that the book has eight chapters and could be used as a reference book for statistics and economics courses. Dr Waheed has 45 scholarly contributions in peer-reviewed academic journals, three books, and a monograph, and also served governmental departments and leading banks and corporate organizations.
Professor Dr Abdul Waheed has achieved a PhD degree from the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University, Japan in 2005 and also completed his post-doctorate research under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
During his PhD research, he constructed a financial macroeconomic model and designed an external debt reduction strategy for Pakistan. As many as five students have completed their PhD and eleven students have completed MPhil under the supervision of Professor Dr Abdul Waheed while he has also taught different courses at the graduate and post-graduate levels in Japan,Turkey, UAE, Bahrain as well as in the various higher educational institutes of Pakistan. He also contributed to reputed economists’ journals and magazines as well as in newspapers as the subject specialized.
