Pakistan’s emerging mountaineer sets sights on Spantik Peak: “The Golden Expedition”

KARACHI: Asad Ali Memon, Pakistan’s emerging mountaineer and the only person from Sindh Province to have summited Mount Everest, is embarking on his next formidable challenge.
Dubbed the “Golden Expedition,” Asad will attempt to climb Spantik Peak, also known as Golden Peak, which towers at an altitude of over 23,000 feet in the Skardu region. The expedition will commence on July 28, 2024, and is expected to last for three weeks, Inshallah.
Asad Ali Memon has already achieved significant milestones. In addition to climbing Mount Everest, he has also successfully scaled the highest peaks on five different continents, showcasing his determination and exceptional skill. His latest endeavor, the Golden Expedition, will test his mettle on one of Pakistan’s most challenging and awe-inspiring mountains.
Spantik Peak, known for its golden hue at sunset, is a stunning yet perilous climb. The mountain has claimed the lives of ‘three Japanese climbers’ just last month, underscoring its treacherous nature and the formidable challenge it presents. Asad’s decision to undertake this expedition not only highlights his bravery but also his unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of human endurance.
